Our Beloved Spiritual Father
Sadhu Thomas M. Kurian (Appa) was born in Thiruvattar, Kulasekharam, Kanniyakumari District, Tamil Nadu, India, in a Christian family, which was Christian just by name, and went to a Mar Thoma Syrian Church.
During his school days, he came to know about Adhi Penthecosthe Sathya Sabhai (Beginning Pentecostal Truth Church) at Malavilai and started attending regularly. As he heard the sermons of Sadhu G. Devanesan (Aiya), he started believing in the Gospel. But, he had not gain any spiritual experience until one of his elder sisters, who was saved, baptized and joined the ministry in the LORD’s Church at Malavilai, slept in CHRIST. After the death of his elder sister, he desired to gain the spiritual experience in his life.
He was saved and got baptized by total immersion in water in the Paraliar River on 11.04.1976 by Sadhu G. Devanesan (Aiya) and became a believer (a member) in the LORD’s Church. Then he came to know about the LORD’s call through Sadhu Devanesan (Aiya) to do ministry in the LORD’s Church. At the same time, Sadhu Aiya told him that he should immediately join the Ministry, But he wanted to work for sometime and then do the LORD’s ministry. He went to Madhya Pradesh where he stayed with his blood relatives and started working there.
As days gone by, he had lost his peace of mind due to the disobedience to the LORD’s call. One day, it was a Tuesday and was a holiday for him, he was reminded in his consciousness about his disobedience to GOD’s calling and the words of Sadhu Aiya kept on ringing in his heart. He immediately humbled himself in prayer confessed his disobedience and then was delivered from it. This incident was then informed to Sadhu Aiya and Sadhu Aiya asked his father to post him a letter asking him to come immediately from Madhya Pradesh.
He immediately returned from Madhya Pradesh. After his return to Malavilai, Sadhu Aiya told him that, “Unless you had come, you would have been dead there.” Through Sadhu Aiya, GOD delivered him from such a terrible condition. Thereafter he stayed in House of Prayer at Malavilai and prayed for some months. According to the will of GOD, he was ordained by Sadhu G. Devanesan (Aiya) on 29.09.1978 to do the work of GOD. On that day of ordination, the LORD spoke through Sadhu G. Devanesan (Aiya) that, “He would have been dead before so many years, but kept alive to do the work of GOD.”
And for nearly five years he served GOD with Sadhu G. Devanesan (Aiya). In 1983, Sadhu G. Devanesan (Aiya) slept in CHRIST. This separation of his Spiritual Father affected him so much. Though he was in grief, he stayed firm and had strong faith about GOD’s promises which was given to Sadhu G. Devanesan (Aiya) and for the Church.
After Sadhu G. Devanesan (Aiya) slept in CHRIST, GOD gave him grace to do things for the welfare of HIS Church with Sadhu C. Selva Raj (Appa). As he was loyal to Sadhu C. Selva Raj (Appa) in all matters, he was authorised to do all the important works in the place of Sadhu C. Selva Raj (Appa) for the Church. Since he was very careful in doing all things according to the knowledge and guidance of Sadhu C. Selva Raj (Appa), GOD provided success. Also GOD provided glorious victory in all the false suits filed in courts against the Church.
Sadhu C. Selva Raj (Appa) became very weak after facing so many difficulties and struggle in safeguarding the LORD’s Church against all the odds. In 14.04.2017 Sadhu C. Selva Raj (Appa) slept in CHRIST. Before that, Sadhu C. Selva Raj (Appa) openly declared in the Church that GOD’s Minister Thomas M. Kurian would lead the Church after him. Also, this was clearly recorded in the Church records by Sadhu C. Selva Raj (Appa). Accordingly, after Sadhu C. Selva Raj (Appa) slept in CHRIST, GOD, by HIS grace, is leading HIS Church through HIS Minister Sadhu Thomas M. Kurian (Appa).
GOD did not forsake HIS Church. GOD provides all the necessary things to HIS Church by remembering the tribulation, affliction and sufferings of Sadhu G. Devanesan (Aiya) and sufferings and hardships of Sadhu C. Selva Raj (Appa). GOD does glorious things according to the promises HE had given to HIS Church. People also have faith on all these things and come to the presence of LORD and receive all the spiritual blessings. So far GOD provides all the strength and gifts, and leads HIS Church according to HIS glorious will. Glory to be GOD! Alleluia!
